Conti Fenn LLC handles all aspects of dispute resolution in labor matters, including union/management disputes over unfair labor practice claims, employment grievances and arbitrations, disciplinary appeals, wage and hour disputes and the enforcement of terms of collective bargaining agreements. The firm regularly litigates employment-related claims including matters involving employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, breach of employment contracts, Whistleblower Protection Act claims and Constitutional claims. The firm also represents public sector employees in employment-related ethics investigations.

Notable Engagements and Reported Opinions:

  • Conti Fenn LLC represents the D.C. Police Union, approximately 3600 sworn police officers, in all aspects of labor and employment matters.
  • Obtained a jury verdict in favor of the Vice Chairman of the D.C. Police Union finding that he had been retaliated against in violation of the D.C. Whistleblower Protection Act
  • Obtained a judgment in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia finding that a Metropolitan Police Department Detective had been retaliated against in violation of the First Amendment. Hawkins v. District of Columbia, United States District Court for the District of Columbia, 923 F.Supp.2d 128 (D.C. 2013).
  • Successful representation in claim of 58 Red Cross employees terminated in Reduction in Force seeking unpaid severance. Scott v. American Nat’l. Red Cross, United States District Court for District of Maryland, 2005 WL 2510456 (D.Md. 2005)).
